About FNLGR
The First Nation Land Governance Registry Inc. (FNLGR) is a national, First Nation-governed institution supporting the registration and administration of interests and rights in First Nation lands under the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management.
FNLGR was established as a modern replacement for federal registry systems, including the First Nations Land Register System and the Self-Government First Nations Land Register System.
Through a secure and reliable registration framework, FNLGR supports First Nation jurisdiction over land governance and contributes to transparent, effective, and sustainable land administration systems across participating First Nations.

Position Overview
The Junior Registration Officer supports the technical review, processing, and registration of interests in First Nation lands.
The role assists with document intake, preliminary reviews, data validation, registry record maintenance, indexing, and user support. The successful candidate will help maintain the legal reliability, accuracy, and evidentiary quality of registry records in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, and First Nation governance frameworks.
The position works under the guidance of the Senior Registration Officer and Deputy Registrar.
Key Responsibilities
Registry Transition
The Junior Registration Officer will:
Assist with the migration and validation of legacy records from existing First Nations land registry systems
Compare migrated data against original records and identify discrepancies, gaps, or inconsistencies
Support communications with First Nation Lands Offices during transition activities
Provide general information about FNLGR processes, transition steps, and user requirements
Track and document user issues during the transition period
Escalate technical, legal, policy, or registration questions to senior staff
Help maintain transition logs, issue lists, and supporting documentation
Support issue resolution alongside FNLGR staff and technical or operational partners
Ongoing Registry Operations
The Junior Registration Officer will also:
Review registry instruments and supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, and basic compliance
Conduct preliminary checks using approved checklists, filing standards, and procedures
Prepare registration files for senior review
Organize documents, confirm required information, and identify apparent gaps
Provide general information to First Nation Lands Offices and other stakeholders
Refer complex questions to senior team members
Support registry filing, indexing, data entry, record updates, and file organization
Follow all confidentiality, privacy, information management, and registry policies
Demonstrate professionalism, impartiality, sound judgment, and attention to detail
Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
Post-secondary education in legal studies, public administration, land management, Indigenous studies, records management, or another related discipline
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Sound judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail
The ability to manage confidential information appropriately
The ability to work independently in a remote environment
The ability to collaborate effectively with a national team
A commitment to respectful, inclusive, and service-oriented work practices
The following experience and knowledge are preferred or considered assets:
Three years of experience in administration, records management, land management, registry operations, legal administration, or a related field
Experience working with First Nation governments or organizations
Experience in First Nation land governance environments
Familiarity with registry systems, legal documents, land instruments, or land-related processes
Client service, technical support, or administrative support experience
Understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedural standards
Knowledge of First Nation governance, the Framework Agreement, or land administration
Bilingualism in English and French
Governance, Confidentiality and Professional Standards

Compensation and Benefits
The approved salary range is $91,534–$111,534 per year. Final placement within the range will be based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience, and demonstrated competencies.
