We Shall Not Forget
“To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.”
— John McCrae, In Flanders Fields (1915)
Honouring the Veterans of Pabineau First Nation
Today, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice and unwavering dedication of the men and women who answered the call to serve.
Pabineau First Nation proudly recognizes the veterans of our community, whose contributions form an important part of both our Nation's history and Canada's military heritage. Their service represents extraordinary strength, resilience and commitment, often in the face of challenges and inequalities that extended far beyond the battlefield.
Behind every uniform is a person, a family and a story worth remembering. These individuals were not only soldiers; they were our relatives, neighbours, community members and ancestors. Their legacies live on through the generations who follow them.
As we reflect on their sacrifices, we also recognize the families who supported them, the loved ones who waited for their return and those who carried their memories forward.
Through this tribute, we honour all our veterans of Pabineau First Nation, preserving their names and photographs so that future generations may know their faces, remember their contributions and take pride in their legacy.
To all who have served, and to those who continue to serve, we extend our deepest gratitude.
Their courage is our history. Their legacy is our responsibility. We will remember them.
