Pabineau First Nation Comes Together for Orange Shirt Day 🧡

Pabineau First Nation came together in recognition of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, honouring Residential School Survivors, remembering the children who never returned home, and reflecting on the importance of continuing the work of reconciliation.

Community members of all ages participated in an Every Child Matters walk through the community, wearing orange and carrying a banner decorated with the names, artwork and handprints of community members.

It was especially meaningful to see our children participating and learning alongside parents, Elders and other members of the community. Through activities, drumming, gathering and walking together, another generation is learning why we say Every Child Matters and why these stories must continue to be shared.

Orange Shirt Day is a time for remembrance, but it is also a reminder of the strength and resilience of Indigenous Peoples, families and communities.

We are grateful to everyone who participated, helped organize activities, shared knowledge and walked together.

Every Child Matters — today, tomorrow and every day. 🧡
