NWAC-IWWT Fish and Fish Habitat Workshop – Eel River Bar First Nation
The Native Women's Association of Canada (NWAC) and Fisheries and Oceans Canada are inviting Indigenous women of all gender diversity to participate in a hands-on Fish and Fish Habitat Conservation Workshop taking place in Eel River Bar First Nation on August 22 and 23, 2026.
This two-day workshop offers an opportunity to connect with the land and water while building knowledge and practical skills related to fish and fish habitat conservation.
Workshop Highlights
Participants will have the opportunity to:
Learn how to identify potential threats to fish and fish habitats.
Strengthen skills related to water stewardship and fish conservation.
Participate in two days of hands-on fishing activities led by an Indigenous women expert.
Connect with other Indigenous women through learning, discussion, and shared experiences.

Dates: August 22–23, 2026
Time: 8:00 AM (breakfast) to 5:00 PM each day
Location: Eel River Bar First Nation
Honorarium & Travel
An honorarium will be provided to all participants, along with per diem and kilometre reimbursement to help offset travel costs.
Please note that, due to limited funding, accommodations will not be provided for this workshop.
