The Civil Department provides services in the construction of buildings, maintenance above and below grade services, and support to Transmission, Customer Service & Distribution groups throughout the province.

As part of the Civil Department, the Carpenter CQ provides technical direction and supervision to civil employees, laborers and the public to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient construction as well as the installation, repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of NB Power structures.

Key functions include:

• Provide technical leadership and support to employees through all Civil parts of capital and maintenance projects from start to finish. This includes reading and interpreting drawings, standards, work methods, environmental issues, ordering materials, and any other related project work.

• Effectively organize, coordinate, prepare, and layout project construction sites to ensure cost-effective, timely completion of projects. Collaborate with other NB Power construction crews and contractors as well as supervise the work to ensure specifications are met.

• Ensure that all operating practices and Corporate Health & Safety Rules and Regulations are always followed, to ensure safety of employees and other personnel onsite.

The ideal teammate will have:

• Carpenter CQ

• Two years of post-certification work experience in both:

o civil and construction work

o formwork, rebar, and concrete work

• Preference will be given to candidates who have work experience working in energized yards

• A valid Class 5 Drivers License

An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
