Location: Natoaganeg, New Brunswick (with travel to participating communities)
Term: 1-Year Contract - 37.5 hours per week
Start Date: April 13, 2026
Salary Range: Based on experience

Mawlugutinej Mental Wellness Services Inc. is seeking a Youth Leadership & Mental Wellness Coordinator to become an integral member of its multi-disciplinary team. This role will collaborate with the Mawlugutinej Mental Wellness Team and Youth advocates across five northeastern NB First Nations communities.

Position Overview

The Youth Leadership & Mental Wellness Coordinator will support the implementation of the Youth Mental Health Fund (YMHF) Action Plan - Buddy's Quest, as well as the broader Indigenous Youth Leadership & Mental Wellness Initiative. This role ensures that youth voices are central in guiding culturally grounded programming and services across participating communities. This position plays a key role in strengthening youth leadership, improving access to culturally grounded mental wellness support, and contributing to data-informed planning that reflects the voices and needs of youth across communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Action Plan & Initiative Implementation

    • Execute YMHF Action Plan goals and deliverables

    • Track progress, outcomes, and key milestones

    • Support long-term sustainability of initiatives

  • Buddy's Quest Platform Coordination

    • Support platform rollout in schools and communities

    • Facilitate onboarding and training sessions

    • Encourage youth participation and engagement

    • Collect and organize anonymous insights

  • Youth Leadership Development

    • Engage youth representatives (2 per community)

    • Facilitate regular youth leadership meetings

    • Support youth-led initiatives and projects

  • Program & Community Engagement

    • Deliver culturally relevant programming

    • Support workshops, events, and gatherings

    • Collaborate with community leadership and Elders

  • Mental Wellness Integration

    • Apply a Two-Eyed Seeing approach in programming

    • Support cultural, land-based, and traditional healing practices

    • Promote resilience, identity, and well-being

  • Monitoring & Reporting

    • Track participation and engagement metrics

    • Collect feedback and success stories

    • Support reporting and evaluation processes

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Experience working with Indigenous youth and/or vulnerable populations

  • Strong facilitation, communication, and organizational skills

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have:

    • Diploma in Child & Youth Care, Social Services, or a related field

    • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a community-based youth setting

    • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Requirements

  • Recent and successful Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Willingness to travel between communities

  • Flexible schedule, may include evenings and occasional weekends

  • Ability to travel to provide support to Esgenoôpetitj, Metepenagiag, Oinpegitjoig and Ugpi'ganjig
