Halifax Invited to Explore the Sentier Nepisiguit Mi’gmaq Trail with Deborah Peddle-Hann

On Thursday, May 29Haligonians interested in hiking one of New Brunswick's most iconic long-distance trails had the opportunity to join Deborah Peddle-Hann at MEC Halifax for an informative Intro to the Sentier Nepisiguit Mi’gmaq Trail (SNMT) workshop.

The SNMT is a 150km backcountry adventure that traces an ancient Mi’gmaq migration route, offering stunning views and a deeply enriching experience for anyone interested in nature, culture, and outdoor exploration. This workshop was a great introduction for those curious about the trail and eager to learn how to start their journey.

  • Trail Access Points & Sections: Participants learned about the best places to start and different sections of the trail to explore.

  • Campsites & Registration: Essential information on how to book campsites along the trail.

  • Wildlife & Trail Etiquette: Attendees received tips on interacting with nature responsibly and respecting wildlife.

  • Cultural Significance: The workshop emphasized the deep cultural connection the Mi’kmaq people have to the land and how the trail relates to their history.
