Pabineau First Nation Comes Together to Envision the Future of Our Community

First Land Use Planning Meeting Brings Community Members Together to Share Ideas and Explore Future Opportunities

Pabineau First Nation's first community Land Use Planning meeting was a wonderful success, bringing together approximately 25 community members, both in person and virtually, to share ideas, discuss priorities and envision the future of our community.

With participation from Elders, young adults and community members across generations, the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to explore what we can accomplish together to make Pabineau First Nation an even better place to live, both today and for generations to come.

Imagining the Possibilities for Our Community

At the heart of the discussion was a shared desire to build a healthy, welcoming and thriving community that reflects the needs and aspirations of our members.

The meeting encouraged participants to think about the possibilities for Pabineau First Nation, with ideas ranging from recreational opportunities and community facilities to housing, tourism and long-term development.

Some of the ideas discussed included:

  • Walking Trails and Wellness: Exploring opportunities to develop a connected trail system that encourages physical activity, outdoor recreation and community wellness.

  • Community Gathering Spaces: Considering future Band Hall needs and spaces that bring community members together for celebrations, meetings and cultural activities.

  • Amenities for Young Families: Discussing facilities and recreational opportunities that would make Pabineau an even more welcoming place for families to grow and thrive.

  • Housing for Our Aging Population: Exploring future housing needs and opportunities to support Elders and aging community members.

  • Tourism and Economic Opportunities: Considering ways to celebrate our community's unique identity while exploring opportunities for sustainable tourism and economic development.

  • Recreation Facilities: Discussing the possibility of a future recreation centre and additional spaces that support healthy, active lifestyles.

These discussions were an opportunity to dream big, share perspectives and begin identifying what matters most to our community.

While these ideas are still in the early stages of discussion, they represent exciting possibilities that can help inform the development of Pabineau First Nation's Land Use Plan.

Planning for Today and Future Generations

Land Use Planning is about more than deciding how land should be developed. It is about understanding the needs of our community, protecting what matters most and making thoughtful decisions that will benefit members for years to come.

One of the most encouraging aspects of our first meeting was seeing different generations come together to share their perspectives.

Our Elders bring valuable knowledge and experience, while younger members offer important insights into the needs and aspirations of future generations. Together, these perspectives can help shape a community that honours its past while embracing opportunities for the future.

Moving Forward Together

This first meeting marks an important step in Pabineau First Nation's Land Use Planning journey.

As the process continues, the Land Development Committee will have additional planning responsibilities and requirements to address. Future meetings will provide further opportunities to explore community priorities, gather feedback and discuss the steps needed to move our shared vision forward.

More community meetings and engagement opportunities will be announced as planning progresses.

We encourage all community members to stay involved, share their ideas and help shape the future of Pabineau First Nation.

Thank You to Our Community!

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in our first Land Use Planning meeting, whether in person or virtually.

Your time, thoughtful contributions and enthusiasm are what make community-driven planning so meaningful.

We also appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in organizing and supporting this important initiative.

Together, we are working toward a Pabineau First Nation that we can all be proud of—a community that continues to grow, thrive and create opportunities for generations to come.

Stay tuned for future meeting announcements, updates and opportunities to get involved!
