ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Terminal Manager oversees the terminal’s operations and has a safety conscious attitude for day to day operations by ensuring that all corporate safety standards are met. The Terminal Manager provides overall leadership, direction, and management to terminal employees in line with business, client, and legislative requirements. Duties typically include identifying operational and safety improvements, leading and supporting terminal staff members, holding employees accountable to execute the terminal operations strategy, resolving issues, developing vendor relationships, coordinating with vendors, verifying and reviewing paperwork, enforcing compliance of policies, generating detailed reports, and communicating internally to provide updates.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Ensure a safe working environment at all times.

  • Conduct ongoing safety audits, meet with individual staff members, attend company safety meetings and participate or direct other work activities designed to promote work safety and encourage continuing education among staff members.

  • Ensure staff members fully and consistently comply with safety rules, administrative procedures and policies, environmental policies, and government regulations.

  • Plan, implement and oversee the work of staff members to ensure efficiency and compliance with organizational requirements and company procedures.

  • Monitor and direct all operations activities, including but not limited to identifying operational and safety improvements, planning of onsite inventory logistics, inbound delivery of products, railcar transload operations, optimization of tank inventory levels to support business requirements, inventory reconciliation, offloading of vessels, and trucks, ensuring regulatory compliance for all assets, a strong focus on customer service, maintenance planning/execution, vendor management onsite, and annual operations budgeting;

  • Maintaining close surveillance of all operating conditions to maximize reliability and efficiency.

  • Take immediate and decisive actions in emergencies, equipment shutdowns, equipment failures, and equipment deviations.

  • Work effectively in a team environment in starting up and/or shutting down various pieces of equipment in the terminal.

  • Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or repair, identifies problems and recommended solutions.

  • Control and management of product inventories.

  • Recommend changes to procedures, policies or scheduling as needed.

  • Initiate and direct investigations to resolve operational issues, customer complaints and verify their authenticity and accuracy.

  • Collaborate with staff members and fellow managers to create, modify, and implement goals, procedures, policies and objectives when the opportunity presents itself.

  • To take responsibility for the effective planning, justification & control of the terminal financial, budgetary and purchasing management.

  • Financial reporting, preparing forecasts and managing terminal costs.

  • Assist with scope development for terminal upgrades, capital projects, and maintenance work.

  • Assist with the procurement of equipment, site services, and materials as required.

  • Facilities Management.

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills that are aligned with Greenergy’s core values.

  • Work effectively and positively with all Terminal/Greenergy employees, customers, clients, contractors and external authorities, promoting the Terminal and delivering site and clientrequirements.

  • Develop, maintain, and actively participate in relevant civic, neighborhood, industrial and government activities, promoting positive public and business relationships, and maximizing values, opportunities, and consultancy for Greenergy.

  • Be an active member of the Greenergy cross site managers forum and share best practice with other site managers.

  • Actively support and seek opportunities to support the growth and development of the Greenergy business, working with New Ventures, existing clients and local business infrastructures, to maximize opportunities.

  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (limited), work nights and weekends when necessary.

  • All other duties required including but not limited to logistics and deliveries, customer service, hiring, training and regulatory compliance.

  • Must be willing to learn the complexities of the Greenergy business and understand how the Belledune terminal plays a strategic role in order to actively recommend improvements that contribute to the overall success of the organization.

SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES DESIRED:

  • Bulk Chemicals or Oil & Gas terminal operations experience.

  • Rail yard experience.

  • Plant maintenance software knowledge.

  • Safety courses: TDG, First Aid.

  • Supply Chain Management and Fulfillment.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 10+ years related experience.

  • 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical college diploma in Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, Power, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university/college.

  • Professional Engineer of New Brunswick, CET designation or Power Engineer accreditation;

  • Mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation aptitude.

  • Able to pro-actively problem solve, prioritize, and redefine priorities when necessary.

  • Time management skills.

  • Demonstrate and encourage teamwork within the operational team.

  • High sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability.

  • Proven ability promoting outstanding customer service and client relations.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors, and employees of organization.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and other business-related computer programs and applications.

  • Valid Driver’s License.
