Honoring Our Stolen Sisters
A Vigil for MMIWG at Pabineau First Nation
On this solemn occasion, Pabineau First Nation gathered together to hold a vigil for our stolen sisters—a powerful tribute to the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). This vigil serves as a reminder of the ongoing violence that affects Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people, and a call for justice and awareness.
A Moment of Reflection and Remembrance
The vigil was a time for our community to come together in solidarity and reflect on the lives lost. We lit candles, shared stories, and remembered those whose voices were silenced too soon. Through prayer, song, and silence, we honored the lives and spirits of the women and girls who have been taken, as well as the families and communities left behind.
Standing Together for Justice
While the pain of loss is deeply felt, the vigil is also a reminder that we will not be silenced. We are committed to continuing the fight for justice and awareness, ensuring that the stories of our stolen sisters are never forgotten. Our community stands in solidarity with all those affected by this crisis and pledges to continue working toward change.
A Commitment to Action
The MMIWG Vigil is more than just a remembrance—it's a commitment to action. As we continue to honor the lives of our stolen sisters, we also raise our voices in unity, calling for accountability, support, and an end to the violence. Together, we can ensure that future generations are protected, and that no more sisters are lost.
