Junes Newsletter 2011
Father's Day is always the third Sunday of the month of June. It gives each of us a chance to honour our father for everything he has done for us. June is also the month of Roses. For children that wear a red rose, it symbolizes that our father is still alive while those of us that have a father that has passed one will wear a white rose.
The traditional birth stone for the month of June is the pearl. It is a symbol of purity and is the only gem that comes from a living sea creature.
Have you ever been told to go fly a kite? Well June 15 is officially the day to do that.
June says good bye to Spring and welcomes in Summer in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, fall ends and winter begins during the month of June.
June 21st kick starts the 11 days of Celebrate Canada! National Aboriginal Day is June 21, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day is June 24, Canadian Multiculturalism Day is June 27, and finally on the 11th day is Canada Day July 1.
June is also "Fight the Filthy Fly Month". Dig out those fly swatters, flex those by-cips, and spray on the bug spray. I believe flies have no redeeming quality other than being a menu item for frogs, lizards, and flycatchers.
