Heather Prisk
Heather Prisk and her son Nicholas are members of the Pabineau First Nation. She spent the first seven years of her life living just south of Pabineau Falls. Due to circumstances beyond her control, she left the community, finally returning home for a visit during the summer of 2001. Heather went to school in Kelowna at Okanagan University College which is now known as The University of British Columbia. In 2003, she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and graduated with Distinction.
During her education, Heather had the opportunity to do a social work practicum with both Round Lake Treatment Centre and Penticton Indian Band’s social development program. Since graduation she has worked for Sto:Lo Nation in Chilliwack, BC as a Financial Aid Worker and in 2004 she was granted a Teaching Assistantship and attended graduate studies in social work at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George, BC.
Heather currently resides in Kelowna, BC and is employed as a Diabetes Coordinator at the Ki-Low-Na Friendship Centre. She will be continuing her studies at UBC Okanagan and has dreams of one day returning to Pabineau, where her heart is.
