I presented the below power point
presentation at the 13th Annual Cando National Conference
and Annual General Meeting which was held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
on October 2-5, 2006. The theme of the conference this year was
"Celebrating Our Success". I was extremely pleased to speak on
planning at this conference and to be representing Pabineau First
Nation.

I presented at the AFOA's National Conference
"The National Forum for Excellence and
Innovation in Aboriginal Finance and Management". AFOA's
National Conference is the only forum for the exchange of knowledge
and information on Aboriginal finance and management in the country.
The conference attracts over 900 delegates from across the country.
Delegates to the conference include First Nation, Métis and Inuit
executives, administrators, financial managers, program managers,
and elected representatives. This took place in Ottawa in
March 2010.

I presented at the AFOA's Atlantic Canada Fall
2009 Conference and AGM. It was a 2day workshop on "Developing
an Effective Remedial Management Plan in First Nations". This
took place in PEI in September of 2009.

Community-based planning is about the people actually being involved in planning their future. While planning is about the future, it also relies upon information from the past. It encourages a community to examine the consequences of doing nothing and of taking actual steps in a planned direction. Planning can help to avoid disasters before they occur in the community. This can be accomplished by spending more time planning for the long-term goals and by voicing what the people want to see happening in their own community.

needs to be re-visited from time to time to ensure that we are
remaining on task and that we are remaining focused on the voice of
our community members. Please take the time to print off the
